Let's just stash this one under the category of "very bizarre."

The Detroit News reports that ex-Detroit Red Darren McCarty, who has had his share of problems, ranging from financial to substance abuse, has gotten a court protection order, along with his wife.

Seems the order is to protect them from four ex-friends -- three Oakland County women and a Macomb County man -- who have allegedly been harassing them after failing to draw McCarty back into the party life, the News reports.

McCarty, 40, and his wife, Sheryl, 37, have accused the the four of trying to get them fired from their jobs, threatening violence and posting malicious comments on websites.

The News reported that McCarty works for the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, and worked in the past year for a Detroit pawn shop. His wife is a nurse at Beaumont Hospital. -- A.L.
