Tom Hayden
Tom Hayden, the famed anti-war activist during the Vietnam war, who graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1956, died Sunday night at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., CNN reports. He was 76.
Tom Hayden, a peace activist, who attended the University of Michigan where he was editor of the Michigan Daily, died from complications related to a stroke he had about 18 months ago, CNN reports.
Barbara Williams, Hayden's wife, told CNN that her husband died Sunday night surrounded by his family.
Hayden served nearly two decades as a California state lawmaker.
"A political giant and dear friend has passed," Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted. "Tom Hayden fought harder for what he believed than just about anyone I have known."
Hayden was married to actress Jane Fonda for 17 years, from 1973 to 1990.
