Gov. Rick Snyder gets mixed grades from Michigan voters when it comes to handling Detroit's financial big hot mess.

It's not so mixed in Detroit. The greater majority of residents think his approach has sucked.

Those are results of polls conducted for The Detroit News and WDIV by the Glengariff Group.

The Detroit News reports that a survey of 600 likely state voters in November found that 39.7 percent approved of Snyder's approach and 38.8 percent who disapprove and 21.5 percent who are undecided. In the non-Detroit areas of Wayne County, 55.8 percent approved of his approach as opposed to 35.7 percent.

A similar poll conducted by Glengariff of 800 Detroit residents showed a 77.5 percent disapproval rate.
