Our Windsor: Masse would like to see a multi-use lane as a “signature element” because he is also currently working on a pedestrian ferry and bike ferry. He believes that there is the potential to create a big international bike circuit for this area. “We have an opportunity to really create a perfect tourist attraction in this area, and also a lifestyles attraction. It’s really important that we connect these projects together.”

Ultimately it’s a federal decision, and Masse is frustrated at the lack of cooperation from the Canadian Government. “It’s interesting because I have the US interested in a bike lane on the new bridge…a passenger ferry [with bike service], [and] studying examination of rail passenger between our two countries and everywhere along the line, I’m not getting cooperation from our Federal government.”

Wait just one galdanged second. The U.S. is taking the lead on a progressive complete streets plan for the NITC but Canada is dragging its feet? This cannot stand. What we need is some kind of ballot initiative so the angry mob can 86 this bridge thing that every informed, impartial observer thinks is a good idea. Direct democracy! – JTW
