Michigan's Mystery Mogul: 5-Hour Man Revealed

The red bottle of 5-Hour Energy costs only $3,  but  it has made Manoj Bhargava a billionaire. Forbes described the taste of the vitamin-and-caffeine liquid as "chalky cough syrup," yet it has catapulted Bhargava's company, Farmington Hills-based Living Essentials, into the top spot in the competitive energy-shot market. 

Bhargava, 58, lives in suburban Detroit and has almost no public profile, either locally or nationally. This story in Forbes, from late February, was said to be his first press interview. His friends describe him as humble, and his offices are cheap and bland. His favorite restaurant is Antonio's. "I'm probably the wealthiest Indian in America," he told the magazine.
