In honor of 70 Chrysler employees moving into the Dime Building, the historic downtown tower will be renamed the “Chrysler House.”

Detroit News: "This is such, such a major move," said Dan Gilbert, chairman of online mortgage company Quicken Loans Inc., whose Rock Ventures firm bought and operates the former Dime Building.

Most of the employees are from the Auburn Hills automaker's Great Lakes region sales and marketing organization. Marchionne will maintain his current office at Chrysler's Auburn Hills headquarters, too.

Changing a building’s name isn’t unprecedented or outrageous, but it seems a little thin to rename the 23-story Dime Building “Chrysler House” for 70 employees. Maybe the name change is a good omen for things to come? -- JW
