One thing is for sure at this juncture: Donald Trump is still the top contender in the Republican presidential GOP race Michigan, according to a new WDIV/Detroit News poll.
And interestingly, in Metro Detroit, he's loved most by a greater percentage of Republican voters in Macomb County compared to Wayne and Oakland counties.
The poll shows that 39.6 percent of the voters in Macomb favor The Donald, as opposed to 24.6 percent in Wayne and 27.8 in Oakland, WDIV reports.
Overall, in the state, Trump leads in the poll with 25.2 percent of the voters, compared to Cruz with 15 percent. Rubio has 11.8 percent, Kasich 10.5, Carson 9 and Jeb Bush 5.3 percent
"Republicans either love him or hate him. There’s no in-between,” said Richard Czuba, president of the Glengariff Group Inc., a Lansing polling firm that conducted the Feb. 14-16 telephone survey, according to the Detroit News.. “Those undecided voters don’t like him.”
More than half the voters said they're still open to who they will ultimately vote for.
The poll also shows that more than 50 percent of Michigan Republican primary voters support the job Gov. Rick Snyder is doing in responding to the Flint water crisis, the poll shows, WDIV reports.
The poll also showed that about 51 percent of 600 likely GOP voters said they support the idea of a temporary ban of Muslims entering the U.S. while 40 percent said they opposed it, the News reports. About 9 percent of those polled didn’t know or refused to answer.
