
Shelby Township says a non-profit group doesn't have a prayer when it comes to getting the township board of trustees to stop religious invocations before each meeting.
The Detroit News reports that Shelby Township Supervisor Richard Stathakis (pictured here) said "we're going to keep doing it. The whole idea is to ask God for his help."
A nonprofit group that promotes the separation of church and state has asked the board to cut out the prayer at meetings. -- A.L.
