Detroit News: The mayor acknowledged Vice President Joe Biden has been in Detroit three times since July.

"Biden is not a substitute for the president, and so people want to see the president. People say Detroit is important to this administration. OK, prove it by coming here," Bing told reporters at a breakfast meeting of Michigan delegates. "There's a lot of people that are upset that he's not come to Detroit. He's been supportive, no doubt about it."

Let’s see, the Obama Administration guided GM and Chrysler through managed bankruptcy—even nixing a plan that would have moved GM’s headquarters to Warren—and included Detroit in the Strong Cities Strong Communities urban initiative and keeps sending Ray LaHood here to try to make the whole M1 rail thing work in spite of itself.

I guess you can say the president has been “supportive” of Detroit. That’s one way of putting it.

Apparently none of that matters unless Obama himself makes a campaign stop to validate our existence by telling us how special and wonderful we all are.

Also, if Obama could tell us how much he loves Motown songs while washing down a coney dog with Vernor’s and wearing a Tigers hat…yeah, Dave Bing would really like that. -- JTW
