Hollywood, unable to develop any original ideas, has been reduced to remaking old films and expecting us to be impressed. To that end, production will begin in a couple months on a Robocop remake. A preproduction marketing effort (think about that phrase for a second) includes shots of Detroit's skyline. Perhaps the remake will be set in the Motor City, just like the 1986 Paul Verhoeven classic. 

Although, let's be serious for a second, does Hollywood really expect moviegoers to believe Detroit could be controlled by a cabal of corporate leaders who manipulate civic affairs to boost profit margins in some not-so-distant dystopian future? Who would believe a film based on a premise that implausible? -- JTW
