State Senate Democratic leader Jim Ananich wants to help Gov. Rick Snyder push a plan that would pump $700 million in state support into the Detroit school district to eradicate the deficit.

But he wants one thing: He wants Snyder to fire the district's emergency manager, Darnell Earley, reports Fox 2's Tim Skubick.

Skubick reports that the state's top Democrat  does not think very highly of Darnell Early.

"You have a guy who's failed in Saginaw," said Ananich. "Provided people with poisonous water in Flint, and now we're asking him to give him $70 million a year to fix our schools. You know, I have a real big problem with that."

"I'd get him a one way bus pass out of Michigan, and get him the heck out of here," Ananich said. "Because all he's done is fail at everything he's done, and I said 'there's no point in being a part of any solution', because he's unable to do it."

Earley served as Flint's emergency manager from September 2013 until January 2015. In an email last month, he told the The Flint Journal-MLive  that the water source decision to save money and use water from the Flint River was made months before he was appointed by Snyder.  He was also former city manager in Saginaw.
