Update, 6:36 a,m. Friday: Houston police say the missing 21-year-old son of U.S. Rep. John Conyers was found safe around 2:15 a.m. today in the city area, KXAS-TV reports.
The FBI and local police were looking for Carl Conyers, a University of Houston sophomore, who was reported missing Tuesday afternoon. has been found safe Friday morning. His girlfriend had told WWJ radio that she was supposed to meet him on campus Wednesday, but he never showed.
Police provided no other details about his disappearance.

Houston police, aided by two federal agencies, are looking for Carl Conyers, 21-year-old son of U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Detroit.
The University of Houston junior was last seen by his roommate at their apartment around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle newspaper, which adds that police "confirmed Thursday that the FBI and the Secret Service are assisting in the investigation."
Members of HPD's missing-persons unit handed out flyers with Conyers's photo and information at his apartment complex on Thursday morning. . . .
The Texas paper says that on Wednesday, girlfriend Daisha Lewis, 20, "visited his apartment and found a messy room with his wallet, photos of family and friends, laptop, car keys and phone strewn around the room -- abnormal for Conyers, who typically is tidy.
A packed backpack was stuffed with clothes, a towel, comb, hoodie and sweatpants.
"To see his room like that, it was scary," she said.

U.S. Rep. John Conyers said Thursday he's contacted the FBI about his 21-year-old son, Carl Conyers, who was reported missing Tuesday from his apartment near the University of Houston, The Detroit News reports.
"We've notified the FBI," Conyers tells The Detroit News. "I'm very worried. It's very unlike him. He's a very stable young guy."
Conyers, who is in Washington, said his wife Monica is in Texas and he awaits an update, Holly Fournier and Melissa Nann Burke write for The News.
The 87-year-old Detroit Democrat, in office since 1965, is the longest-serving member of Congress.
