Well, ole Brooksie finally caved.
We're referring to Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson who likened state house Speaker Jase Bolger to Adolf Hitler.
On Tuesday, under pressure from allies, he publicly apologized to Bolger for making the reference, Chad Livengood of the Detroit News reported.
Livengood wrote:
Patterson's apology on WJR's "Frank Beckmann Show" came a day after the Republican firebrand refused to say he was sorry for calling the GOP speaker "Adolf Bolger" during a public television interview.
The outspoken Patterson said his comments had become a distraction in his effort to stop Bolger, Gov. Rick Snyder and other fellow Republicans from changing Michigan's lifetime medical care for severely injured drivers.
Patterson has criticized Bolger and the governor for backing legislation by the auto insurance industry to cap lifetime medical coverage for accident victims to $1 million.
"I'm the warrior carrying the banner into battle for them, and I should not have created a controversy," Patterson told Beckmann.
