Kenneth King, chief judge at 36th District Court, tells the Detroit News he was kicked out of his job today as head of the financially-strapped court, though he remains on the bench.
King said he was asked by the court’s special administrator, Court of Appeals Judge Michael Talbot, “to resign or be removed.”
“They claimed I was unable or unwilling to provide or assist with significant leadership,” King told Oralander Brand-Williams today. “He’s come in and shown a total lack of respect to the judges here.”
Talbot declined to respond to King’s comments.
King, who will stay on as an elected 36th District Court judge, said he and Talbot “were supposed to be in a partnership” but that he didn’t feel that was the case.
King said two weeks ago, Talbot fired his longtime administrative assistant, who had been at the court for more than 20 years, saying she made too much money.
