Madonna, "The Material Girl," is having a bit of a difficult time being the "The Political Girl."
The Free Press reports Madonna was met with jeers last week in New Orleans when she encouraged fans to vote for President Obama.
Then Thursday night at Joe Louis, fans started booing loudly -- other cheered -- when she talked enthusiastically about Obama's re-election. She said she was "ecstatically happy" about Tuesday's election.
"You can boo all you want," she told the crowd, "but I've been to countries around the world where people can't vote for their leaders."
She then turned to a backup dancer, according to the Free Press, and said: "In the Basque language, 'boo' means 'I love you.'"
