What a mess in Wayne County.

The latest: The feds on Tuesday charged David Edwards, a former aide to Wayne County executive, with taking a $13,000 bribe from a county contractor, according to the Detroit News.

Edwards, 41, of Detroit, who was the county's deputy information technologies director, was charged with a criminal information, which means in all likelihood he'll cop a plea in exchange for his cooperation in a scandal that doesn't seem to going away any time soon.

He was the fourth former Ficano aide to be charged in the unraveling scandal.

The politicos in Wayne County are putting pressure on Ficano to step down.

Wayne County Commissioner Laura Cox, the lone Republican on the commission, called Tuesday for Ficano to step down. And other elected officials have begun to complain that Ficano cannot effectively lead the county while the mess unfolds. - A.L.
