Freep Editorial Page Editor Stephen Henderson writes in his Sunday column how he longs for a guy like ex-D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams, who helped turnaround D.C.

The geeky, bow-tied intellect took ovdr the reigns from the infamous Mayor Marion Barry.

Henderson writes that Williams offered some sage advice during the Mackinac Island policy conference, and was highly critically of the Detroit City Counil for signing an agreement to correct the financial situation, then supporting a challenge to the arrangement with the state.

Henderson writes of the city councils challenge:

Williams also advised for mayors to hire people smarter than them and improve the function of city government.

And finally, he advised, pick 10 achievable things and get them done. Start delivering.
