Do not mess with Warren Mayor Jim Fouts' Wikipedia page. It really sets him off. One time he got so mad just thinking about it, and other outrages, that he threatened to "get a f______ gun and blow [an ex-employee's] f______ head off." At least that's what Warren's ageless wonder is alleged to have said during a taped phone conversation.
The Michigan State Police are now investigating the incident because it's illegal to threaten or terroize someone over the phone.
The Macomb Daily: Law enforcers began probing last week whether Fouts may have broken a law that prohibits the malicious use of a telecommunications device.
“The detectives were hoping to complete the investigation by the end of this week and if they believe charges are possible will submit it to the prosecutor’s office at that time,” Lt. Michael Shaw said.
Fouts, long a critic of policies that make government too transparent for his comfort, has characterized the phone conversations as "private" discussions. Recording them was a confidentiality breach, he says.
