Recreational sports are supposed to be fun. Then there's the hot heads who take it to ridiculous levels, or in this case, a deadly one.
On Friday, one of those hot heads, Bassel Saad, 36, of Dearborn, pleaded guilty in Wayne County Circuit Court to manslaughter for delivering a sucker punch that killed referee John Bieniewicz during a recreational game last summer in Livonia, the Detroit Free Press reported.
Under his plea agreement, he'll get 8 to 15 years in prison. He was originally charged with second-degree murder and was about to face trial on Monday. He could have gotten life in prison if convicted.
