Drew Sharp doesn't wait long to drop a hammer in his latest Detroit Free Press sports column.
"Ndamukong Suh has become an albatross around the Lions' neck," his second sentence says.
They're burdened with a loose cannon who still remains in the league's disciplinary crosshairs. . . .
If the Lions are smart -- and isn't that assuming a lot? -- they should seriously entertain trading offers for Suh this off-season. He may never shake free from the branding as a needlessly angry, impulsive reactionary who may annually face some form of NFL investigation for his on-field antics.
The tough talk is prompted by Suh's kick to Houston quarterback Matt Schaub's groin Thanksgiving afternoon. The league decided Monday not to suspend him -- though Sharp feels "Suh deliberately and angrily initiated a clearly non-football act," He adds:
The Lions got a break Monday. But they probably won't be as fortunate next time.
And if there's one thing we're sure about with Suh. There's going to be a next time.
