The good news for MSU partisans is that the football team is bowl game-bound for the sixth year in a row.

The news they'd rather not think about is that star running back Le'Veon Bell might go pro instead of playing next season as a senior.

"If Bell leaves after his junior season to go to the NFL, Spartans fans should be seriously scared.," columnist Jeff Seidel writes in the Detroit Free Press. That stance rests on the sportswriter's belief that State is "headed for a bowl game for one reason: an amazing running back."

In Saturday's 26-10 win over Minnesota, Bell carried 35 times, accumulated a career-high 266 yards and scored a fourth-quarter touchdown. "Bell bulldozed defenders from start to finish," Josh Mansour writes in The State News.

Bleacher Report columnist Trent Stutzman wrote three weeks ago:

"Considering the Packers will be drafting in the late first round, their first overall pick should be spent on Michigan State running back Le’Veon Bell. While he’s not a franchise-altering type of back, Bell would be a great value for Green Bay in multiple ways."

The NFL player draft will be in New York City from April 25-27, 2013.
