A case of the government overreaching?

Some lawmakers certainly think so.

Serena Maria Daniels and Chad Livengood of the Detroit News report that some lawmakers were steaming when they found out that Michigan Department of Human Services told Auburn-based Michigan Crossroads Council Boy Scouts of America would have to mount  mount battery-operated smoke detectors inside two-person pup tents.

The News reported that State Rep. Ken Goike, R-Ray Township, ripped department for its order.

The News reported that Goike distributed a press release Wednesday morning demanding the agency rescind its "impractical edict."

The agency responded that it had already reversed its order.

No word yet on how the agency feels about using dark chocolate on S'mores at camp fires.
