Laura Berman reports in The Detroit News on his return to the University of Michigan for a conference on the 50th anniversary of the Port Huron Statement, a call to action by to the 1960s antiwar group Students for a Democratic Society.here. 

More than 50 scholars and 1960s movement veterans are participating in the academic conference. Berman spoke with organizer Howard Brick, a history professor who organized it:

"Whatever view one has of these movements, they were unquestionably historically significant."
