Legislative roadblocks and possible ballot measures aside, Gov. Rick Snyder is not giving up on plans to build a new Detroit-Windsor bridge.

Snyder held a private meeting yesterday in Windsor with Canadian Transportation Minister Denis Lebel and U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson to discuss the New International Trade Crossing bridge, or the Detroit River International Crossing as they’re still calling it in Canada.

Snyder spokesman Ken Silfven described the meeting as a “continuation of dialogue” to the Windsor Star, but was cagey about the details.

“There’s nothing to report at this point,” Silfven told the Star. “Our commitment to this vital project is as strong as ever and we’re confident that it will become a reality.”
