Gov. Rick Snyder
The extent of the political fallout of the Flint water crisis has yet to be determined for Gov. Rick Snyder.
Members of Congress, the two presidential candidates and plenty citizens have demanded that Snyder resign. However, he's made it clear he's not going to do that, and that he plans to fix the Flint water problem.
Recall petitions began circulating Sunday to remove the 57-year-old governor before the end of his term in January 2019, Steve Neavling of the Motor City Muckraker reports.
Organizers have 60 days to collect at least 789,133 valid signatures, Neavling reports.
Neavling writes:
The Board of State Canvassers approved the recall petition, which calls for removing Snyder based on his own statement during the State of the State address in which he took responsibility for the crisis, which resulted in thousands of people being poisoned by elevated levels of lead and other contaminates.
