Eric Ramsey went a crime spree that included rape and arson before posting this on his Facebook page: "Well folkes im about to get shot. Peace."
A sheriff's deputy then shot him dead, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The Freep reported that the crime spree began around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when Ramsey, an ex-convict who served five years in prison for assault, brandished a gun and abducted a student from Grand Rapids on the campus of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. He forced her to drive her SUV off campus where he raped her.
As they were driving the student jumped out of the car and ran to a home and started banging on the door, the Freep reported. Ramsey, 30, then took some gasoline and lit the house on fire.
He then took off up north in Gaylord where he rammed a state trooper's car with his SUV. He drove off to an elk ranch owned by the city of Gaylord and was eventually shot by the deputy sheriff.
