Several new polls show Michigan is a dead heat between President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney.

It's despite Romney's writing, in 2008, a New York Times opinion piece under the headline, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt." It's despite the fact that Michigan voters haven't backed a Republican nominee for president in the last 24 years.
