If you're a loyal Caribou Coffee customer in Michigan . . . well, you soon won't be.

Crain's Detroit Business reports that Caribou is abandoning Michigan and either closing its stores or converting them to California-based Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc. brand. The chain has 22 locations in Metro Detroit.

The national chain announced it is closing 80 underperforming stores. Another 88 stores will be converted to Peet's outlets.

A company press release says 468 locations will remain open in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Western Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Denver and 10 international markets.

Closings in Rochester, Livonia, Northville and West Bloomfield have been confirmed, Patch reports.
