Hamtramck City Hall is the site of a familiar drill. Paul Egan of the Free Press state capital bureau has the news:
The State of Michigan ordered a team Wednesday to review the finances of the City of Hamtramck.
It’s the second step in a process that could lead to the appointment of an emergency manager. A preliminary review by the state, conducted at the request of city officials, found the city in “serious financialcondition.”
Among other problems, the city has delayed making $2 million in required pension contributions to help it manage its cash flow, the state Department of Treasury said in a news release.
Gov. Rick Snyder will ger a report by mid-June, Egan writes. Hamtramck was under financial emergency management and then receivership from 2000-07.
