Michigan Gov. Rick SnyderGov. Rick Snyder has a foreign trade mission this coming week that won't take him far from Michigan.

He's be in Toronto to discuss plans for a second Detroit-Windsor bridge. The trip to address the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships comes nearly six months after Snyder signed a deal to build the Canadian-financed span and three weeks after Michigan voters gave him a vote of confidence to proceed.

The governor is scheduled to talk Monday in Toronto about the New International Trade Crossing, a spokeswoman told Jeff Karoub of the Associated Press. He'll meet with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. They'll have a joint news conference Monday afternoon.

Snyder returns to Ontario's capital with an Election Day victory: Voters rejected a proposal backed by Ambassador Bridge owner and billionaire Manuel "Matty" Moroun to give Michigan residents a say on whether state funds could be used to build international border crossings. Moroun and his allies spent millions on advertising, court challenges and other efforts aimed at obstructing the competing bridge.
