They see a brighter future for Michigan and Detroit and largely approve of the jobs done by Gov. Rick Snyder and Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr, according to a November survey of Crain's Detroit Business subscribers conducted by Lansing-based Epic-MRA Corp. . . .
Of the 300 surveyed, 80 percent said they strongly agree or somewhat agree to the statement "as Detroit goes, so goes the state of Michigan."
Respondents largely approve, 82 percent, of Snyder's appointment of Orr and 61 percent say Orr is doing an excellent or pretty good job running the city. . . .
Respondents were split on whether Orr should have done more to protect retiree pension benefits, with 44 percent approving of exposing the pensions to cuts and 46 percent disapproving.
The weekly's readers are an upbeat bunch, with 81 percent describing themselves as optimistic about the city's ability to rebuild economically in the near future, according to Dustin Walsh's survey summary.
