Gary Brown

Gary Brown, a former Detroit cop and city councilman who currently serves as Group Executive of Operations for the city of Detrorit, has been nominated by Mayor Mike Duggan to head up the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.

The city issued a press release announcing the nomination, which must be approved by the Board of Water Commissioners.

Duggan also announced the nomination of  Palencia Mobley, P.E., as its deputy director and chief engineer.

Brown would replace Sue McCormick.

The press release says that Brown, would run the administrative side of the operation and Mobley would run the water side.

“This team will bring balanced leadership and expertise to the city’s water operations,” Mayor Duggan said in a statement. “Gary is an outstanding administrator who has helped modernize many city services and generate significant cost savings.  Palencia is a brilliant engineer and the type of young talent that will rebuild our Water Department’s infrastructure for future generations."
