Robert Davis

Robert Davis likes to be called a "labor activist" but it would be more accurate to call him a professional litigant. To be fair, some of his cases have proven to have merit. Many of them, though, haven't.

For instance, an Ingham County judge ruled earlier this month that Davis' lawsuit claiming Mayor-elect Mike Duggan was part of a conspiracy to get Kevyn Orr appointed as Detroit's emergency manager lacked a legal or even factual basis. So Davis may have to pay as much as $48,000 to cover defendant's legal fees.

Detroit Free Press: Duggan’s attorneys, John Pirich and Brian Quinn of the Honigman firm and Melvin (Butch) Hollowell, are seeking $22,345 for 53.5 hours of legal work.

Attorneys Gary Gordon, W. Alan Wilk, and Jason Hanselman of the Dykema firm, who represented Michigan governor’s aide Richard Baird and Gov. Rick Snyder’s nonprofit NERD Fund, are seeking $25,334 for 68.2 hours of legal work and about $400 in related costs.

That works out to a billable rate of roughly $390/hour. Seems like nice work if you can get it.
