Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson didn't hold back when talking to WJR morning man Paul W. Smith about Detroit's financial future.
Patterson called the structure of the consent agreement with the state a "Rube Goldberg machine" and predicted the whole thing will end in Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy. He added, though, that he expects Gov. Rick Snyder will do everything he can to prevent a Michigan city from falling into financial failure.
Patterson's main criticism was the layers of officials that the consent agreement establishes to run the city. There are two executives and a nine-member board that will steer city finances along with the mayor and the nine-person city council. Patterson noted that that means a lot of egos mixing together.
