Apparently it's getting very hip to say your product is made in Detroit.
The latest on that: Fossil, the hip watch maker, which produces other products as well, is leasing 30,000-square feet at the Argonaut Building to manufacturer watches and bicycles, WXYZ-TV reports.
The station quotes Daniel Duggan of Crain's Detroit Business as saying that Fossil founder Tom Kartsotis is " building a team of watchmakers who are going to be in Detroit, building these watches."
Crains reports that Fossil is already producing a line of watches in the building.
Duggan told Channel 7 that Kartsotis' move is all about Detroit.
"He thinks that there's a cachet, that there's a Detroit cool that he wants to tap into," Duggan says. "I think it's starting to catch on in other parts of the country. -- A.L.
