Less than 24 hours after engaging in one of the ugliest and more contentious presidential debates in modern history, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton  gave a spirited speech at Wayne State University in Detroit to a cheering crowd. She bashed Donald Trump and urged people to register to vote before Tuesday's deadline.

"Friends don't let friends vote for Trump," Clinton said at the Matthaei Center on campus where basketball games are played.

She talked about Sunday night's debate and said: "Donald Trump spent his time attacking when he should have been apologizing."

“When he was pressed about how he behaves, he just doubled down and his excuse and it’s just locker room banter. Well, I’ll tell you what: Women and men across America know that is just a really weak excuse for behaving badly and mistreating people. . . .

"Here's a man who has insulted not just woman, but African Americans, Latinos, people with disabilities, Muslims, POWs and so many more."

Before her arrival, a number of politicians spoke -- including Sen. Gary Peters, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, U.S. Rep. Sander Levin and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

"I don't know about you, but I am sick of Donald Trump," Stabenow told the crowd, adding "he tries to divert your attention while he picks your pocket."

Outside the rally, there were some Trump supporters including someone driving a Trump Mobile.

The crowd was very diverse.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow took plenty of shots at Trump.

Sen. Gary Peters is obviously no fan of Donald Trump.

U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence spoke.

The media was out in force.

NBC's Kasie Hunt gets ready for a standup before Hillary Clinton arrives.

There was lots of security outside.
