Efforts by some to make things more confusing at the voting booth seem to be getting blocked.

The latest:  U.S. District Judge Paul Borman in Detroit on Friday issued a preliminary injunction blocking Michigan's Secretary of State Ruth Johnson from requiring citizenship checkboxes on voter ballot applications this November, the Detroit Free Press reported.

“It is really a burden on the right to vote in terms of slowing things down, in terms of confusion,” U.S. District Court Judge Paul D. Borman said Friday in issuing his ruling, according to the Freep. A written opinion is expected Tuesday.

Some groups say they fear that illegal immigrants are voting. Others say the move is just another Republican tactic to suppress the votes of the poor and disenfranchised.
