NBC News' Education Nation summit kicks off Friday at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
The summit is part of a traveling series of events and discussion about the nations education system. NBC says it hopes to create "a thoughtful, well-informed dialogue with policymakers, thought leaders, educators, parents and the public."
The events are invite-only, but you can catch a live stream online. Governor Snyder is expected to speak Friday; the student town hall and teacher town hall take place Saturday.
