Detroit's mayor-elect will fly to the capital in coming days for a White House luncheon with the host-in-chief, Eric D. Lawrence writes in the Free Press.

Mike Duggan expects to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House next week.

Duggan revealed the meeting during a breakfast event on Detroit’s east side today with about 200 community group representatives.

“I got a phone call inviting me and I’m waiting for the details, but it sounds like there’s going to be a number of new mayors from around the country invited to meet the president and the vice president and have lunch, and I look forward to it,” Duggan said to reporters after the ARISE Detroit! event at the Samaritan Center on Conner.

The city's incoming mayor/figurehead  also told journalists he is “very hopeful” about developing an agreement by Dec. 20 with Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr that clarifies each man's roles after Duggan's inauguration Jan. 1.
