The Red Wings just didn't have enough.

The Anaheim Ducks knocked them off in the first game of the first round of the NHL playoffs by a score of 3-1.

The game was even closer than the score reflects.

The Ducks scored into an empty net with  23 seconds left.
But they didn't play as well as they could have.

"I didn't think we were great," coach Mike Babcock said, according to the Detroit News. "We didn't manage the puck very good. We didn't move it from the back to the forwards.

"I didn't think we were very good. Give them (the Ducks) credit, they're part of the equation. But to me, we didn't play as well for whatever reason."
