The question you really have to ask yourself: Is there any way the state Republicans are going to follow the advice of the Democrats?

Not likely.

Still, Todd Spangler of the Detroit Free Press reports that Lon Johnson, state Democratic Party chairman, is urging Republican U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land to cancel a fund-raiser with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills. Tickets run from $1,000 for a roundtable reception to $5,200 per person.

“Chris Christie is the poster child for political cronyism and corruption, and he should not be setting foot in Michigan, much less at the invitation of someone like Land who wants to represent our state in the U.S. Senate," Johnson said, according to the Freep.

Don't hold your breath for the GOP to follow that advice.

Christie, who has been mentioned as a presidential candidate in 2016, is embroiled in a controversy over the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, and whether he misspent Hurricane Sandy relief funds for a marketing campaign, the Freep reports.
