Now, for the good news: No one was hurt.  

Detroit Police engaged in a brief shootout Sunday night with two suspected robbers on Detroit's west side. Police arrested the two men, Jane Parks of WXYZ reports.

It all started in Redford Township when two men stole a purse around 8 p.m. from a woman at a Subway at Telegraph and Chicago, WXYZ reports. At the time, Redford police were not in pursuit.

About an hour later,  Detroit police were on routine patrol  when they spotted a man in his 20s running with a purse in the area of Plainview Avenue and Warren, WXYZ reports.

When officers tried making contact with the men, one opened fire. Police returned fire, but no one was hurt.

WXYZ reports that the men fled on foot down Plainview Ave. and Detroit police officers and Michigan State Police set up a search perimeter in the area.

Within 15 minutes, police made the arrest.
