For the second time this summer, the Detroit Police dispatch system went down. According to WXYZ, the department's radio network stopped working around 1:30 AM.

WXYZ: Detroit Police, Fire and EMS are forced to to phone-in to dispatchers after technical issues started around 1:30 a.m. At that point, crews could hear dispatchers but dispatchers couldn't hear them in return.

WWJ reports the system went back online around 4:00 AM and 9-1-1 calls were not affected.

The dispatch system also crashed for several hours in early July.

UPDATE: According to WXYZ, Chief James Craig said the outages were sporadic overnight and the entire system was only down completely for about 15 minutes. Craig says technicians are working to identify and fix the problem.
