With Charles Pugh still somewhere between Ferris Bueller's day off and Jimmy Hoffa's last ride, Detroit City Council is ready to move forward without him. The now-six member body is scheduled to select a new president and president pro tem.
WDIV: A vote on a new president and president pro tem is scheduled Tuesday. The City Charter requires the council to appoint people to vacancies, but [Emergency Manager Kevyn] Orr issued an order Monday that it not do so.
Council can still function so long as it has five members present at a meeting.
In addition to Pugh's disappearing act, Council has also lost Kwame Kenyatta, who resigned after criticism for missing meetings, and Gary Brown, who left to take a job in the EM's office.
