Detroit Department of Transportation drivers are fed up with lawlessness on city busses.

So employees are holding a march and rally Tuesday at which they will ask for better service and police protection.

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26 President Fred Westbrook told WDIV-TV: "The service is deplorable, something needs to be done. Buses need to run on time so we can get people where they need to be."

Westbrook said tensions run high because the service is so bad, which is often the cause of the angst that is directed at the bus drivers themselves.

Employees plan to meet at Campus Martius and then march down Woodward Avenue to the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center.

Last week, a passenger accused a bus driver of swearing at her and slapping her after she asked a question about the bus' route. He also allegedly dropped her off at a random stop.
