Cross off Debbie Dinger from the list of Democrats who want to succeed Sen. Carl Levin.
"There may be a time when elective office is the right choice for me, but this was not it," the Detroit Free Press quotes her as saying in a statement.

The wife of U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, encouraged party allies to avoid a divisive 2014 primary by uniting behind one person, the paper reports. "We have good candidates like Gary Peters considering running," she added referring to the congressman from Bloomfield Township.
At a Democratic dinner at Cobo Center on Saturday night, Rep. Peters told Chad Livengood of The Detroit News an announcement about whether he'll run comes "within a matter of weeks."
Levin, who first won his seat in 1978, announced last month that he won't seek a seventh term next year. At this weekend's Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner in Detroit, he reminded partisans that he's not retired yet, The News reports:
"I'm a long way from leaving the U.S. Senate, by the way," Levin said. "It has been a great run, but it's going to be an even greater next 20 months. I'm going to be there fighting like hell for what we believe in Michigan."
