Dan Gilbert buys buildings downtown like you and I buy shirts.

The latest: Gilbert’s Rock Ventures and its real estate arm, Bedrock Real Estate Services, have purchased two properties, one at  1505 Woodward Ave. and 1265 Griswold St., John Gallagher of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Freep reports his holdings total bout 8 million square feet downtown. That includes commercial and parking space downtown.

“Detroit’s bankruptcy does not deter our downtown Detroit investment strategy,”  Matt Cullen, president and CEO of Rock Ventures said, according to the Freep. “We are as bullish as ever on the future of Detroit and will continue to invest in properties we believe strategically fit our mission to transform the city.”
