Federal prosecutors continue to hammer away at Kwame Kilpatrick in his public corruption trial.

The latest: On Thursday a city official testified that he revoked a firm's Detroit-headquartered status, a move that helped sink the firm's bid for a $16 million water contract and open the way for Kilpatrick's close friend Bobby Ferguson to get the contact, according to Tresa Baldas and Jim Schaefer of the Detroit Free Press.

The witness Kim Harris, chief compliance officer of the Detroit Human Rights Department, told jurors that his boss allegedly told him "the mayor wants it done."

"I felt that the contracting process was being tampered with," he testified, according to the Freep.

The feds are alleging that Kilpatrick rigged contracts for Ferguson, who in turn kicked back some money to Kilpatrick.

Kilpatrick, Ferguson and Kilpatrick's father Bernard Kilpatrick face a host of corruption charges. Two other people named in the indictment have pleaded guilty.
