With a March 31 deadline looming to enroll in health insurance as required by the new federal mandate, city government is using Detroit fire houses and rec centers as enrollment sites for residents who need to sign up for individual coverage.
WXYZ: Five Detroit fire stations have offered to help residents on Mondays and Wednesdays. There are also people on the main floor of Detroit City Hall every day through the end of March.
The fire houses where enrollment assistance will be available are 737 E. Lafayette, 4700 W. Fort, 13939 Dexter, 2300 S. Fort, and 16825 Trinity. The Adams Butzel Family Center at 10500 Lyndon, the Butzel Family Center at 7737 Butzel, and the Coleman Young Recreation Center at 2751 Bradby Drive will also offer enrollment opportunities.
The city will provide enrollment assistance weekdays between 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Coleman Young Building downtown.
