City officials might try to shut down Club Pandemonium, the downtown Detroit hip-hop club where two security guards have been killed by patrons.
According to Matt Helms of the Free Press, the mother of one of the guards asked the city council to help close the club at 415 E. Congress where her son, Marcel Jackson, 39, was gunned down June 20 by a man who had been ejected from the club for hitting a woman. The man shot at Jackson in a drive-by outside the club, Jackson's mother said.
"All this commotion that went on inside had nothing to do with Marcel. He was working outside," Carolyn Warrior said. "My son died trying to make $60 because he needed money for his six children. He was trying to supplement his income to take care of his family."
Council members said there likely would be hearings on how the city could move to close the nightclub where, three months after Jackson was killed, 41-year-old security guard Lewis Ferrin of Warren was stabbed to death as he escorted a 20-year-old Detroit man out of the club because he'd been in a fight inside.
